‘Barney’ documentary exposes darkish aspect of beloved kids’s collection

“Barney & Friends,” it appears, was not at all times a cheerful household behind the scenes.

According to a brand new docuseries, “I Love You, You Hate Me,” the beloved kids’s present, which launched the performing careers of Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez, was the the goal of loads of hate.

The trailer for the two-part collection reveals Bob West, a Barney performer, recalling loss of life threats he acquired because the purple dinosaur.

“They have been violent and specific, loss of life and dismemberment of my household,” he says. “They have been gonna come and discover me, and so they have been going to kill me.”

The present was created in 1992 by Sheryl Leach, Kathy Parker and Dennis DeShazer.

“Barney stands for inclusion, acceptance. You ought to love everybody, all of us have Sheryl Leach to thank for that,” says a line within the trailer, which asks “Why does the world like to hate?”

“I Love You, You Hate Me” is about to premiere Oct. 12 on Peacock.
