
Gordon Lightfoot, “Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” singer, dies at age 84
Gordon Lightfoot, Canada’s legendary people singer-songwriter whose hits embrace “Early Morning Rain” and “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald,” died on Monday, a consultant of his household mentioned. He was 84.
Representative Victoria Lord mentioned the musician died at a Toronto hospital. His explanation for loss of life was not instantly out there.
The Orillia, Ontario, native rose to fame within the early Sixties after a transfer to Toronto opened doorways within the thriving Yorkville music scene, and hooked him up with fellow people musician Ian and Sylvia Tyson. They grew to become nice admirers of his work and coated two of his tracks.
