
Lizzo wins Emmy for prime competitors program

Lizzo made a childhood dream come true on Monday.
The “About Damn Time” singer received the Emmy for excellent competitors program for “Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls,” an Amazon collection that documented her seek for backup dancers.
“When I used to be a little bit lady, all I wished to see was me within the media – somebody fats like me, Black like me, stunning like me,” an emotional Lizzo stated when she took the stage to simply accept the award. “If I might return and inform little Lizzo one thing, I’d be like, ‘You’re going to see that individual, however b***h, it’s going to must be you.’”
Lizzo thanked the opponents on her collection, including, “This is for the massive grrrls!”
Since she exploded in recognition in 2019 together with her single “Truth Hurts,” the Grammy winner has championed Black ladies, the LGBTQ neighborhood and ladies of all sizes.
“Big Grrls” follows Lizzo as she casts plus-size dancers for her upcoming tour; a number of of the forged members had been available to see Lizzo settle for the award.
Lizzo’s had an eventful 12 months: In spring, she launched the size-inclusive shapewear model Yitty, which presents sizes XS via 6X. And in July, she launched her extremely anticipated fourth album, “Special,” replete with self-love anthems.
