Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of Michael Jackson, will play the enduring pop star in an upcoming biopic, film studio Lionsgate introduced Monday. 

Jaafar Jackson, who’s the second youngest son of the Jackson 5 singer Jermaine Jackson, will painting the King of Pop in “Michael,” which might be directed by Antoine Fuqua. The “Emancipation” director stated on social media that he was “proud” to call Jaafar Jackson as a part of the solid, and shared a photograph of the actor dressed as his uncle.

“There was such a non secular connection once I first met Jaafar, who has a pure means to emulate Michael and such a terrific chemistry with the digicam,” Fuqua stated in Lionsgate’s announcement. 

On Instagram, the 26-year-old Jaafar Jackson stated he was “humbled and honored to carry my Uncle Michael’s story to life.” 

“To all of the followers all around the world, I’ll see you quickly,” he wrote. 

Katherine Jackson, Michael Jackson’s mom and Jaafar Jackson’s grandmother, stated she approves of the selection.

“Jaafar embodies my son. It’s so great to see him stick with it the Jackson legacy of entertainers and performers,” she stated in an announcement. 

Lionsgate stated the movie will start principal images in 2023 and it’ll “discover all features of Michael’s life” and his iconic performances.
